Our History

Having realised that North Cornwall was an ideal place to begin a barbershop chorus, friends Pauline Gobbitt and Catherine Hudson founded the group on September 13th 201o.

The name "Moor Harmony" was chosen, to reflect the group's original rehearsal location near Helland, close to historical Bodmin Moor.  With the help of Musical Director Sian Netherton, the chorus was born.

Moor Harmony moved to Wadebridge Ambulance Hall in the following year to improve its accessibility and have remained here in Wadebridge ever since.

In 2016, Lesley Harris took over as Musical Director, completing her Director's Certification Programme in late 2017.  She now holds the title of Approved Director with Sweet Adelines International.

In 2018, Moor Harmony became More Harmony, reflecting our chorus philosophy of More Singing, More Friendship and More Fun!  Whilst we normally use the word "chorus" rather than "choir," all the elements of singing in a choir can be found at a More Harmony rehearsal, from creating beautiful harmonies, to making musically-minded friends!

Sadly, in March 2019, our co-founder Pauline passed away.  Pauline had been a driving force within More Harmony and her passion, commitment and friendship will never be forgotten.  She is with us in every song we sing.

To celebrate our tenth anniversary in 2020, we created a short documentary film, which we are proud to share with you here:

There have been many changes over the years but More Harmony remains a group of happy, friendly women who love to sing together and have fun.
